As most of you will be aware our local stores are taking an hammering with shelves being cleared as soon as they are stacked of certain items, which doesn't help the old and vulnerable at all. The sheer selfishness of some individuals has sadly shown the true nature of people during a crisis.
As a result of this nearly all the main supermarkets have now put restrictions on some items and in some cases on ALL Items. Here is an update as of midday today of the present situation of our local stores (note - these may change as the day / week progresses
ALDI - Allowing 4 items per customers of ANY food item - Long life milk (limited supply), Toilet Rolls (Non) , Nappies (Limited Supply), Tinned Soup (Non), Tinned Fish (Limited supply). Aldi are re-stacking shelves daily from 8am and through the day
TESCO (Blackley) - Allowing 2 items per customer of certain food lines (not all), as at Aldi the items above are similar
TESCO 24hr (Middleton) - Same as Blackley, the only difference which you need to note is that the store is now CLOSED between Midnight and 6am for replenishment of shelves, HOWEVER, please also note that by 8am this morning 18th March lots of shelves were already stripped of tinned items, toilet rolls, long life milk and certain other food items
ASDA - presently 2 items per customer and much the same as TESCO
SAINSBURY's (Heaton Park) - Same as Tesco on limitations
ONLINE DELIVERIES
ASDA - Service suspended and waiting list in place due to not enough drivers to deliver
SAINSBURY's - Service still in place but ONLY Pensioners can order (hooray!!!!)
OVACADO - Present members ONLY can order online, present registration to the site is suspended
TESCO - Awaiting update
Bottom line folks is this, in general (after actually visiting all these stores today NOT for shopping but to get a view of the state of them) there IS adequate food to go round, but obviously some items are out of stock daily or gone before 8am!! So any errands done for our old and vulnerable by us may involve some movement between stores.
This was accurate as at midday today, please let me know if any update is required
